comboo
is a high- tech construction and building material made from bamboo.
It is a sustainable, affordable, lightweight alternative to established construction materials like concrete, steel, aluminum and wood.
Light and tough
comboo combines two of nature’s greatest inventions: the resilience of the bamboo fibre and the robust construction of honeycomb. The result is a natural product that can be used as a building and construction material on an industrial scale.
Carbon capture and storage champion
Bamboo is not a tree but a giant grass and can grow up to one meter in a single day and can be harvested every five years without killing the plant. Bamboo absorbs as much as 12 tonnes of carbon dioxide per hectare per year, 30% more CO2 than trees can absorb. comboo captures carbon and stores it efficiently.
Building and construction material
Bamboo is extremely strong and tough and for centuries it has been used as a construction and building material. comboo is a viable alternative and addition to traditional building and construction materials like concrete, wood, steel and aluminum.
Stronger than steel
The outstanding technical features of comboo are certified by one of the most recognised technical universities in the world, RWTH Aachen. They found that comboo’s tensile strength is 39.4 kN (394 kg) which makes it 15% stronger than a steel component of the same shape and form.
Patent protected
comboo is patent protected by national law and international law.
Fire protection
comboo contains about the same percentage of adhesives a wooden pellet which fuels a stove or an industrial furnace contains. But when used as a building material comboo can meet the same fire protection standards as traditional wooden building materials.
No monocultures
Bamboo does not replace agriculture. Bamboo grows in places that can otherwise not be used for growing crops. Therefore bamboo offers an efficient way to protect surfaces from erosion and make the planet greener.
